The Vikings came out on fire as ECSU jumped out to a 31-14 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as they cruised to a 48-point win over USCAA member Regent (0-8). For the Vikings it was only positive on the offensive end as
Naterria Luster scored 36-points while pouring in 10 rebounds and
DeNayia Holmes scored 10 points while notching 10 assists for the game.
Angel James and
Asia Deal also scored in double-digits for the Vikings with 18 and 13 points respectfully. ECSU shot 55.2 percent (37-for-67) from the field and set a program record for the most free throw attempts without a miss in a single game with 19. The Vikings also were stout on the defensive end as ECSU forced 27 Regent turnovers and scored 37 points off of those Regent mishaps.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter:

ECSU and Regent went back and forth for the first four and a half minutes and the game was tied at six at the 5:20 mark of the first quarter. From that point, the Vikings went on a 15-0 run over the next two and a half minutes to separate themselves from the Royals.

Second Quarter:
Â
The offensive onslaught continued for the Vikings in the second ten minutes as ECSU would start the quarter on a 9-0 run.
DeNayia Holmes would score a layup with 2:47 left in the second quarter to give the Vikings their largest lead of the 1
st half at 56-21. ECSU would outscore Regent by a 27-10 margin during the second stanza and take a 58-24 lead at the half.

Third Quarter
Â
Regent came out of the halftime break and were able to keep better pace with the Vikings but ECSU was still able to outscore the Royals 14-10 in the quarter. Senior
Jalyn Brown scored with 3:38 left in the quarter to give the Vikings their largest lead at 40 for the contest.

Fourth Quarter
Â
Naterria Luster finished her outstanding performance by scoring eight points in the final quarter. Freshman
Angel James capped her 18-point performance with a three-point bucket with 1:35 left in the contest to push the Viking lead to 99-49.

Elizabeth City State will return home to face off against Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Shaw University in a 5:30 p.m. tilt on Thursday night inside of the R.L. Vaughan Center.
