ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University basketball teams will be back in action this week with two home dates for women's basketball program. The Vikings will play host to Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals Shaw University on Thursday and will play host to Saint Augustine's University on Saturday afternoon.

ECSU sits at 5-4 following handing out a 99-51 thumping of Regent University on Saturday afternoon.
Naterria Luster led the way for the Vikings as the junior forward poured in a double-double with 36 points and ten rebounds. Luster shot 14-of-23 from the field and shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. The Vikings also had double digit scoring efforts from freshman
Angel James with 18, freshman
Asia Deal with 13.
DeNayia Holmes also pitched in a double-double effort with 10 points with 10 assists, while only committing two turnovers on the evening. ECSU was stifling on defense forcing 27 turnovers and limiting the Royals to just 41.5 percent shooting from the field. The Vikings also set a program record in the contest as the team shot a perfect 19-for-19 from the free throw line which marks the first time the Vikings have shot over 15 free throws in a game and made all of their attempts.

SCOUTING THE BEARS AND FALCONS

Shaw comes into the R.L. Vaughan Center with a 2-4 record overall and a 0-1 record in CIAA play. The Bears have had two common opponents with the Vikings dropping a 77-75 contest to Claflin and winning a 76-71 matchup with Puerto Rico-Bayamon earlier this season. However, in their last outing Shaw dropped a one-point decision to Division III opponent William Peace by an 80-79 margin. Shaw is averaging 74.2 points per contest and 43 percent from the field shooting as a team and sit 0-2 away from Raleigh. Shaw is being paced offensively by senior guard Tahniya Sweatt who is averaging 20.3 points per contest on 46 percent shooting.

St. Augustine's comes to the Harbor of Hospitality with a similar 2-4 record overall and a 1-1 record in CIAA play. The Falcons have split two contests with a Claflin, who as mentioned earlier is a common opponent of ECSU. The Falcons have struggled at times on offensive as they are averaging just 63 points per contest while giving up 69.5 points per game. The Falcons are also 0-2 away from the friendly confines of the North Carolina state capital. Offensively, St. Augustine's is being paced by a single double digit scorer in Angela Carabello who comes in averaging 10.5 points per game.
