ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Second year head coach Antonio Davis has announced his program's schedule for the upcoming season. The schedule features 14 home dates, 5 neutral dates and 10 away from Elizabeth City. The schedule is also a challenging one as the Vikings will face off against Conference Carolinas champion Barton and ECSU will have to work through the always tough Northern Division of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
2018-19 SCHEDULE
"We have been working with the new members of our team and our new personnel. This schedule is exciting to us as we will see our improvement from the first week in the PSAC/CIAA Challenge. We also feel as though our non-conference schedule gets us ready for our conference slate, which is always a tough task in the CIAA," Davis said.
The 2018-19 campaign will begin in Erie, Pennsylvania on November 9th and 10th as the Vikings will travel to Gannon University to face off against both Gannon and Slippery Rock in the PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference)/CIAA Challenge. ECSU will return to the friendly confines of the R. L. Vaughan Center for three games as they will welcome Puerto Rico Bayamon (November 14), the University of Mount Olive (November 17) and NCAA tournament participant Barton (November 19).
The Vikings will then make the short trek to Petersburg for the Virginia State Classic on November 23rd and 24th to face off against St. Augustine's in a non-conference matchup and Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Elizabeth City State will then travel to Newport News Apprentice for their first true road contest of the season on November 28th. December starts CIAA play for the Vikings as they will welcome in conference newcomer Claflin to the R. L. Vaughan Center on December 3rd. ECSU will then step out of conference play to face off against Regent University out of Virginia Beach on December 8th. The Vikings will then come back to the R. L. Vaughan Center for three straight CIAA contests against Shaw (December 13), St. Augustine's (December 15), and Fayetteville State (December 17). 2018 will come to a close for the Vikings with a trip to Bluefield, West Virginia to face2 off against Bluefield State on December 30th.
2019 begins for the Vikings inside the Vaughn Center as ECSU will play their final non-conference contest against West Virginia State on January 4th. Starting on January 10th, the Vikings will play three straight on the road starting with Livingstone, then continuing in Charlotte against Johnson C. Smith (January 12) and ending in Murfreesboro against Northern Division foe Chowan on January 19th. ECSU will travel to Rocky Mount to play a neutral site contest against Winston Salem State on January 21st and step back into divisional play with a trip to Lincoln on January 23rd.
ECSU will return home to face off against divisional rivals Virginia State and Virginia Union on January 26th and 30th before making the trip to Bowie, Maryland to face off against the Bulldogs on February 2nd. The Vikings will come back to the Harbor of Hospitality to play Chowan and Lincoln on February 9th and 13th before traveling to Petersburg and Richmond to face off against Virginia State and Virginia Union on February 16th and 20th. Bowie State will make the trip down the coast to Elizabeth City to finish the regular season on February 23rd for Senior Night.
The CIAA Tournament will be played February 26th through March 2nd in Charlotte inside of the Bojangles Coliseum and the Spectrum Center.
