Lady Vikings to Host Francis Marion, Saturday

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - Riding a 78-46 victory over Newport News Apprentice on Tuesday evening, the Elizabeth City State University women's basketball team hosts Francis Marion University, Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. in the R. L. Vaughan Center for its final home game in the month of November.

Lady Vikings (2-1) have improved in all facets of the game under first year head coach Antonio Davis, especially in the points department, averaging 61.7 points per game in their first three competitions. ECSU is also outscoring it's oppo-nents by 6.4 points per contest.

Elizabeth City State is out-rebounding its opponents 153-142 (average 51 per contest); while shooting .649 percent from the candy stripe. Senior guard Jalyn Brown leads the team offensively with 14.3 points per contest; while sophomore forward Devona Stell add 12 and freshman center Remi Simmons add 10 points per game for ECSU.

Defensively, the Lady Vikings are led by freshman forward Quianna Boone-Fudge, who tallies 9.3 boards per game. Stell collects nine and Simmons records eight per contest.

The Patriots (2-1) come into Saturday's contest after a 69-64 upset defeat to Wingate on Wednesday evening. FMU averages 70 points per game and is being carried by Khai Chandler, who averages an impressive 23.3 points per game. Teammate Shaunice Fulmer averages 19.3 per game; while Briana Burgins adds 14 points per contest.

Defensively, Burgins handles things coming off the glass; collecting 10.7 boards per contest and seven steals thus far on the season.
