LINCOLN, PA- The Lincoln University Lady Lions outscored Elizabeth City State University 13-6 in the final five minutes to earn a 70-63 double overtime win Wednesday night at Manual Rivero Hall.
Tied at 57 headed to the stanza, the Lady Lions opened the second overtime on an 8-2 run to take a 65-59 lead with 2:08 remaining. ECSU was limited to just two field goals in the final overtime and Lincoln held on to improve to 13-8 overall and 5-2 in the CIAA Northern Division.
Lincoln had an opportunity to win the game in regulation but Amani Clark missed two free throws with less than a second left, sending the game to an extra session tied at 49 all. Lincoln managed to win despite shooting only 51% from the free throw line (18-35) in the contest.
Imani Heggins continued her stellar play for the Lady Vikings with her sixth double-double of the season, and second in as many games, of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Jalyn Brown and Jasmine Nixon rounded out ECSU's double figure scorers with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
ECSU (7-15, CIAA 3-10) will return to action on Saturday at the RL Vaughan Center against Virginia State University. Tipoff is scheduled for 2pm.
