Nov. 29, 2016 ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - The Elizabeth City State University women basketball team is set to face Newport News Apprentice, Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Apprentice Gymnasium in Newport News, Va.
The Lady Vikings are coming off an, 57-56, upsetting loss to Fayetteville State University on Saturday evening at home during their 2016 ECSU Thanksgiving Tournament.
Behind an outstanding shooting performance from sophomore guard Jalyn Brown, who recorded a career-high 21 points, ECSU tied the game up at 56-all with less than five seconds left, to fall short by only one point after defeating Saint Augustine's University the day before, 40-31.
Brown leads the team offensively, averaging nine points per contest; while Jazmine Nixon and Latrina Gatling sit in second, averaging eight points each, respectfully.
The Builders defeated West Virginia University Tech, 68-61 this past Sunday at home in Apprentice Gymnasium. As a team, the Apprentice School enters the contest shooting 37.8 percent from the field, 62.5 from the foul line, and 19.1 percent from behind the arc. They are averaging 69.4 points a game and are paced by Kenya Wilkerson, who is averaging 14.6 point per game.
