NORFOLK, Va. - The Elizabeth State University Lady Vikings basketball team was defeated by Claflin University, 52-38 at Tullis Arena Tuesday evening.
ECSU falls to 0-1 on the season; while the Panthers improve to 2-1.
The Lady Vikings came out in the first half outshooting CU from the field 37 percent to 34.6 percent, but Claflin took a 27-26 lead into halftime.
A layup from Jazmine Nixon with 8:54 left in the third quarter tied the game at 28-all, before the Panthers ran away with the game, by outscoring ECSU 24-10 throughout the rest of the contest.
Nixon led Elizabeth City State offensively with nine points; while Tamara Harvey added eight in the effort. Chalise Greenwood and Anaya Eason led the team defensively, grabbing five boards each, respectively.
Dominque Williams led the Panthers with eleven points and three rebounds.
The Lady Vikings host the ECSU Classic in the Vaughan Center Friday, Nov. 18 thru Saturday, Nov. 19. Tipoff for ECSU is slated for 6 p.m. on Friday and on Saturday game time is set for 6 p.m.
