HAMPTON, VA- Elizabeth City State University's Breona Jones has been named the 2015 CIAA Women's basketball Rookie of the Year as released by the CIAA Office Friday morning.

The team is voted on by the CIAA Sports Information Directors' Association. Named the CIAA Rookie of the Week three times this season, Jones, a native of Henderson, North Carolina (Southern Vance HS), has had an outstanding rookie campaign having started in all 24 of ECSU's games this season. She led all CIAA freshmen in minutes played, points scored and scoring average. Jones scored in double figures nine times, matched a personal best of 4 steals three times and registered a career best 6 assists on three occasions.

She scored a career high 23 points on February 11th in a 60-50 win over The Lincoln University.

The Men's and Women's All-Rookie Basketball teams will be honored at the CIAA Tournament Tipoff Luncheon, Monday, February 23 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
