Feb. 17, 2015 HAMPTON, VA- Elizabeth City State University nearly swept the CIAA weekly honor roll today when the conference released its top players and coach Tuesday morning.
Jadda Jefferies, Breona Jones and head coach Ron Woodard nabbed three of the four honors as Player, Rookie and Coach of the Week.
Jefferies has been named Player of the Week for a league best fourth time this season. The Burlington, NC native has been a catalyst for ECSU this season as the conference's top scorer at 21.1 points per game. She led the Lady Vikings to wins over the Northern Division's top two teams last week. Jefferies had 19 points and 8 rebounds in the win over Lincoln and poured in a game high 21 points in the Lady Vikings' road victory over Virginia State.
Breona Jones has been named CIAA Rookie of the Week for the second time in as many weeks and the third time overall this season. She had an outstanding week as the ECSU knocked off the top two teams in the CIAA North with a career high 23 points in a 60-50 win over Division leader Lincoln. For an encore scored 16 points (11 in the second half) in a 63-56 road win over Virginia State.
Ron Woodard has been named CIAA Coach of the Week for leading the Lady Vikings to three straight wins in the CIAA Northern Division. ECSU will take on Virginia Union tomorrow in Richmond, VA. Game time is set for 5:30pm.
