ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Wilmington University used a big fourth quarter to capture a 73-67 win over Elizabeth City State University Sunday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.

The Wildcats went 2-0 at this weekend's Lady Viking Basketball Classic to improve to 4-1 overall on the season.

Arielle Harris opened the fourth quarter with a jumper at the 9:46 mark to give ECSU a 59-48 lead. Wilmington then reeled off a 13-2 run and on an Emma Matthews layup, tied the game at 61 all with 6:06 to go. Down the back stretch of the game, the teams traded baskets and swapped the lead six times until Zameria Jones connected on a three-pointer to put WU in front 68-66.

The Lady Vikings were held without a bucket the final 3:23 and were outscored in the fourth quarter 25-10.

Breona Jones finished with a game high 20 points, 13 of which came in the first half. Jasmine Nixon and Arielle Harris both notched double digits in rebounds with 11 and 10, respectively. The Lady Vikings held a 51-44 rebounding edge including 20 offensive boards.

The Lady Vikings took control of the game in the second quarter with their defense, holding the Wildcats to just 6 points in the quarter. ECSU drained four three pointers in the second in route their largest lead of the night, a 43-29 halftime advantage.

Zameria Jones led the Wildcats with team high 17 points off the bench while Imani Heggins rounded out ECSU's double figure scorers with 11 points.

ECSU (0-3) will return to action at the Virginia State Thanksgiving Classic November 27-28 in Petersburg, VA. They will face Shaw University at 4pm on Friday and will battle Nyack College at 1pm on Saturday. All games will take place at Daniel Gymnasium on the campus of Virginia State University.
