WINSTON-SALEM, NC- Winston-Salem State University used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings 70-47 Monday night at the C.E. Gaines Center.

Jadda Jefferies led all scorers with 17 points while Arielle Harris chipped in with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Dionna Scott and Keshira McNeil were WSSU's only double figure performers with 12 points apiece with four of their teammates contributing at least 7 points in the victory.

WSSU bench outscored the Lady Vikings 40-2 on the night.

ECSU's scoring output marks their lowest point total of the 2014-15 season with the Lady Vikings connecting on only 16 of 50 attempts against WSSU. The Lady Rams raise their record to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in the CIAA.

The Lady Vikings struggled through a couple of scoring droughts which resulted in a lead that was both sizable and comfortable for WSSU. In the first half after Jadda Jefferies drained a 3-pointer at the 6:21 mark, ECSU went cold from the field for the next three minutes while the Lady Rams seized their first double digit advantage, 30-17, with 3:18 to go. The Lady Vikings cut the spread under double digits only to see Scott nail a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded and a 34-24 halftime lead.

In the second half it was more of the same. While WSSU continued to pour it on, the Lady Vikings remained cold from the floor, connecting on only 29% of the shots. The Lady Rams' lead would balloon to as much as 27 points with under two minutes to play while the smallest deficit ECSU would face the rest of the way as twelve point differential.

ECSU (6-6, CIAA 1-5) will hit the road to take on Chowan University on Saturday, January 17th. Tipoff is scheduled for 2pm in Murfreesboro, NC.
