Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Barton College Lady Bulldogs completed their season series with Elizabeth City State University, sweeping the Lady Vikings 6-0 and 7-1 in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Bulldogs were dominant against the Lady Vikings during the 2014 season, outscoring ECSU 37-3 in five head to head matchups.

Behind strong pitching from Liz White, the Lady Bulldogs earned a 6-0 shutout in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader. White allowed only one hit while striking out 10 over seven complete innings. The game was scoreless through two complete innings until Barton put three runs on the board. The Lady Bulldogs added a run in the fifth and two more in the top of the seventh.

Crystal Britton was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in the game one.

The night cap went 7-1 in favor of Barton, as the Lady Bulldogs used a six run third inning to take control of the game. The Lady Vikings lone run of the afternoon came in the bottom of the third when a double by Lilyann Arnold scored Kiyana Merritt.

ECSU had more success at the plate in game two with five hits, however Barton's Ashlyn Reagan turned in a solid performance from the mound, fanning 10 of 25 batters faced.

Barton improves to 15-16-1 overall while ECSU slips to 7-18 on the year.
