MURFREESBORO, NC- Chowan University defeated the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings 58-49 Saturday afternoon at the Helms Center.
Rachel Gostomski tallied a game high 16 points as the Hawks earn a split in the season series with ECSU. The Lady Vikings toppled Chowan 80-74 in overtime January 18th in Elizabeth City.
ECSU shot 26% from the floor in the contest, connecting on just 14 of 52 field goals on the afternoon.
The Lady Vikings trailed 28-25 at halftime and but rallied to tie the game on two occasions in the second half. After a layup by Ya'Shonti Bridgers knotted the game at 39 apiece with 13:47 to go, ECSU went scoreless from the field for the duration of the game. Their only points came from the free throw line over that span while the Hawks seized their biggest lead of the night 57-43, with 3:01 remaining.
Chelsey Davis and DaShera Boone were ECSU's leading scorers with 14 and 11 points, respectively.
