JEFFERIES CAREER HIGH PROPELS ECSU PAST APPRENTICE 70-42

Dec. 11, 2014

Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Jadda Jefferies scored a career high 30 points in Elizabeth City State's 70-42 win over The Apprentice School Thursday night at the RL Vaughan Center.

The Lady Builders slip to 3-4 overall while the Lady Vikings improve to .500 on the season at 4-4 overall.

Apprentice held their first and last lead when they opened the game with a 5-0 run. The Lady Vikings then went on a tear scoring 19 unanswered, a run that ended on a three-pointer by the Builder's Courtney White at the 11:39 mark. Jefferies countered on ECSU's ensuing possession when she was fouled on her first three of the night and sank the free throw to complete the four-point play.

Jefferies accounted for 11 of the ECSU's points during that run and had 19 points at the intermission.

The Lady Vikings' dominance was largely due to their control of the paint and rebounding effort on the evening. ECSU held a 48-36 edge on the boards and corralled 19 off the offensive glass which led to 14 second chance points.

The Lady Builders were outscored in the paint 36-10 and the Lady Vikings' defense forced 29 Apprentice turnovers.

Jasmine Nixon scored 10 points for ECSU while Ashley Hughes fell a point short of a double-double pulling down a career best 15 rebounds. White and Jessica Neighbors scored 11 points apiece to lead the Lady Builders.

ECSU will return to action on Tuesday at the RL Vaughan Center when they take on the University of Mount Olive. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm.
