ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings closed out a five game home-stand with a 64-54 win over Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.
Chelsey Davis notched her fourth straight contest in double figures with a game high 18 points and added 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. The Lady Vikings shot 52% from the field in the second half and with a layup and free throw by Derricka Henry at the 10:32 mark, ECSU held its largest lead of the game 46-31.
The Lady Lions did not fold down the stretch as they battled back with a 21-7 run to close the deficit to a single point, 53-52 with 5:30 remaining. Jadda Jefferies hit a jumper on ECSU's next possession for a 55-52 lead until Zephrah Pam converted one of two from the line to pull Lincoln back within a basket with 3:34 to go. The game's last field goal, a three-pointer by Jefferies at the 3:19 mark and a Ya'Shonti Bridgers free throw extended the Lady Viking lead to six, 59-53.
The Lady Vikings went 5-6 from the line in the final 44 seconds to close out the game.
The Lady Lions didn't score from the field in the game's final six minutes and managed only three points over that span on 3-6 shooting from the free throw line.
Lincoln (10-8, CIAA 3-5, North 1-1) out-rebounded the Lady Vikings 43-31 including 22 offensive boards. Lisa Sanders had a team high 13 points off the bench in the loss while Pam chipped in with 11 points.
Jefferies and DaShera Boone rounded out the double figure scorers for ECSU with 14 and 12, respectively.
