ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Livingstone College had four players net double figures in a 62-44 win over Elizabeth City State University Thursday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
After five ties and six lead changes the Lady Blue Bears went ahead for good on a layup by Ashley Walker, 25-23) with 6:59 left in the first half. The Lady Vikings did not hit a shot from the floor in the final 7:55 of the first half but only trailed 29-25 at the intermission.
ECSU's shooting woes continued in the second half as they connected on only 8-26 attempts from the floor. Livingstone (8-6, CIAA 2-2) outscored the Lady Vikings 33-19 in the second half with nearly half of their points coming from the charity stripe. LC shot 15-16 from the free throw line, a clip of 95%.
Both teams struggled from the field on Thursday night. Livingstone went 22-63 from the floor (34%) while the Lady Viking finished the night connecting on 17-46 of the their shots (37%). Neither team hit a three point field goal in the second half after the first half saw ECSU go 5-10 from downtown to 1-5 shooting for the Lady Blue Bears.
Cierra York and Taylor Daniels scored 14 each for the Lady Blue Bears and Jadda Jefferies had a team high 8 points for the Lady Vikings.
