Final Stats
ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Stephanie Harper scored 25 points in Elizabeth City State University's 65-51 win over Bowie State University on Saturday afternoon.
It was an extra special "Senior Night" for Harper, who playing in her final home game, scored her 1,000 career point in the closing minutes of the game. The Charleston, IL native entered Saturday's contest needing 25 points to reach 1,000, and she got just that as the Lady Vikings finish the regular season a perfect 10-0 in the CIAA Northern Division.
Their win streak now stands at 13 games and they earn a first round BYE at next week's CIAA Tournament in Charlotte, NC. They will take the floor again next Wednesday against the winner of Tuesday's opening round. That matchup will pit the #4 seed in the South (Saint Augustine's) against either Lincoln or Chowan, who finished tied at the end of the regular season. A coin flip on Sunday will break the tie between Lincoln and Chowan.
The Lady Vikings enter the CIAA Tournament as the Division Champions for the second time in the past three seasons.
De'Rya Wylie was the only other Lady Viking to net double figures with 10 points.
Bowie State (7-16, CIAA 4-12) was paced by Channell Mackey who finished with 15 points. The Lady Bulldogs will begin play at the #6 seed in the North on Tuesday. Follow on Twitter @ECSUVikings and log onto www.ecsuvikings.com.
