ETTRICK, VA- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings earned a 64-52 win over Washington Adventist University Friday afternoon at the 6th Annual Virginia State/Chick-fil-A Thanksgiving Classic.
The Lady Vikings closed the first half on a 10-2 run, giving themselves a ten point cushion (28-18) at the intermission. Over the first 20 minutes ECSU held WAU to just 6-25 (24%) shooting from the floor.
After DaShera Boone opened the second stanza with a jumper to push the ECSU lead to 12, back to back baskets; a three-pointer by Ebonee Ellison and a layup by Jerria Brown-McDaniel, cut the Shock's deficit to seven (30-23) with at the 17:35 mark.
ECSU responded with a 10-0 spurt to push the lead back to double digits, 40-23 with 15 minutes to go.
The Lady Vikings' largest lead of the game was a spread of 20 points with 8:37 left in the contest. ECSU outscored Washington Adventist 26-6 in second chance points with 21 offensive rebounds.
DaShera Boone and Ya'Shonti Bridgers both contributed double-doubles of 17 points, 11 rebounds and 11 points, 13 boards, respectively.
