ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Ivettlis Castro poured in 29 points in route to All-Classic honors as Bloomfield College upended Elizabeth City State University 65-47 in the final game of the Chick-fil-A/Lady Viking Tipoff Sunday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.
Joining Castro on the All-Classic team were Da'Shae Jones (Virginia State), Candace Fox (Belmont Abbey) and DaShera Boone from ECSU. Virginia State's Lamesha Deal earned MVP of the Chick-fil-A/Lady Viking Tipoff.
Virginia State was the only team to leave 2-0 at the close of the weekend while Belmont Abbey and Bloomfield College earned a split, with 1-1 records.
For the second straight night the Lady Vikings struggled to find an offensive rhythm connecting on only 16 of 55 attempts from the floor. Behind 18 first half points from Castro, which included 4 three-pointers, the Lady Deacons built a 40-22 lead at the intermission.
ECSU's largest deficit of the night was 26 points (58-32) with 7:35 to go in the game. The Lady Vikings also struggled from the free throw line hitting only 13-23.
DaShera Boone scored a team high 11 points, the only Lady Viking in double figures.
