LADY VIKINGS WIN SEVENTH STRAIGHT; DOWN VIRGINIA UNION 72-55

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings extended their win streak to seven games with a 72-55 win over Virginia Union University Wednesday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.

The Lady Vikings rallied from a 28-22 halftime deficit, outscoring the Lady Panthers 50-27 in the second half. Virginia Union was held to just 28% shooting from the field in the second half while ECSU connected on 18-30 shots for a 60% clip.

The score was tied at 39 with 12:28 to go until the Lady Vikings reeled off a 10-2 run to take their first double digit lead of the game 52-41. Virginia Union would get no closer than 8 points the rest of the way and ECSU' lead swelled to 18 in the closing minute.

Ya'Shonti Bridgers matched her career best in rebounds with 11 and added 8 points off the bench. Shatara Jackson had a team high 18 points while Stephanie Harper finished with 11 points.

DaShera Boone scored 10 points off the bench for the Lady Vikings, whose reserve unit out scored Virginia Union's bench 29-6.

Ashle Freeman scored a game high 19 points as the Lady Panthers slip to 8-11 on the year.
