Final Stats
LINCOLN, PA-The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings won their fifth straight game with a 60-54 road win over Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Wednesday evening at Manuel River Gymnasium.
Stephanie Harper finished with a double-double of 12 points and a season high 16 rebounds. DaShera Boone was the only other Lady Viking to net double figures with 11 points off the bench.
The Lady Lions struggled from the floor to start the game and the Lady Vikings jumped out to a 16-3 lead on two Harper free throws at the eleven minute mark. Lincoln got its first field goal of the game on a rebound a put-back by Mfon Ekanem with 10:33 to go in the half.
Lincoln rallied to cut the ECSU lead to 18-15 at the 6:02 mark but ECSU closed the half on a mini-run to take 29-23 lead at the break.
The Lady Lions (7-11, CIAA 3-5) exploited an ECSU drought midway through the second half to take their first lead of the game, 41-40 with 8:50 to go.
The Lady Vikings trailed 52-48 with three minutes left before consecutive free throw trips by De'Rya Wylie and Shatara Jackson pulled the game even at the 2:24 mark. On Lincoln's ensuing possession a steal by Derricka Henry sparked a quick 6-0 run and on a layup by Boone ECSU took a 58-52 advantage.
Denyse Moore hit a bucket for Lincoln with 31 seconds to go and Henry hit two free throws for the final point spread.
Courtney Lucas was the only Lady Lion in double figures with 12 points off the bench.
ECSU (15-3, CIAA 7-1) will return to action for Winter Homecoming 2013 on Saturday, January 26 against Virginia State University. Game time is scheduled for 3:00pm
