ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Bowie State University's Lakisha Walker sank two free throws with six seconds remaining to seal a 55-51 road win over Elizabeth City State University Thursday night at the RL Vaughan Center.
With 30 seconds remaining and the Lady Vikings trailing 53-47, BSU's Chanita Jordan was whistled for a taunting technical foul and Kenyatta Gill hit two free throws to pull ECSU within four. Shaquella Johnson then corralled a missed shot and laid the ball up to make the score 53-51 in favor of Bowie State with 22 seconds left.
Jordan was fouled and sent to the free throw line where she misfired on the front end of a one and one. Tiffany Gadsden grabbed the rebound and ECSU burned their final timeout with 15 seconds to go. Shatara Jackson got all the way to the basket but missed the potential game tying basket with 7 ticks left and ECSU was forced to foul, setting up Walker's game cementing free throws.
Teaunsha Robinson led all scorers with 15 points off the bench for Bowie State who moves to 13-8 overall, 9-5 in the CIAA and 6-2 in the Northern Division.
Jackson and Gill topped ECSU with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
