WILSON, NC- Shatara Jackson scored a game high 22 points but it was not enough as Barton College topped Elizabeth City State University 72-60 Wednesday night at Wilson Gymnasium.
Stephanie Harper finished the game with her second double-double of the season of 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Janae Jackson posted a double-double of her own with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for Barton who finished with four players in double figures. Faith Hunter helped the home team to a 23-4 bench scoring advantage with 16 points. The Lady Bulldogs (4-2) used a 14-0 halfway through the first half for a 35-23 halftime cushion.
Barton College also dominated the glass with a 46-33 including 19 offensive boards, leading to 20 second chance points to just 7 for the Lady Vikings. The Lady Bulldogs' lead ballooned to 19 points at 46-27 with 17 minutes left, but the Lady Vikings stormed back within 52-50 at 11:41 with a 23-6 run. Hunter scored off an assist from Jannetta Robinson 10 seconds later, followed by baskets from Robinson and Elaine Morgan for a 58-50 cushion.
Barton led by double figures for the final six minutes of the game.
