LADY VIKINGS HOLD OFF LINCOLN 66-60 IN OVERTIME

LINCOLN, PA- Shaquella Johnson scored a team high 20 points as the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings held off an upstart Lincoln University squad for a 66-60 overtime win Saturday at Manuel Rivero Hall.

After playing to a 54-54 tie at the end of regulation the Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Lions 12-6 in the final session. Stephanie Harper finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds while Shatara Jackson chipped in with 12 points and a season high 7 steals.

Danielle Smallwood's rebound and put-back of a missed DeJuana Mosley layup with 40 seconds left in the second half sent the game to the extra session.

Although the Lady Lions (1-13, CIAA 0-7) hit only 17 field goals in the game, they went to the free throw line 37 times converting 26 shots (70%) while ECSU connected on 16-30 attempts from the line (53%).

The Lady Vikings played the bulk of the game without leading scorer Kenyatta Gill who was sidelined with a cold. She came in for the overtime session and hit on her only attempt, a 3-pointer with 2:25 left which gave the Lady Vikings a 63-59 advantage.

Mosley finished with a double-double of 13 points and 17 rebounds while Sharay DuBose topped all scorers with 22 points.
