Final Stats
RALEIGH, NC-The Shaw University Lady Bears topped the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings 76-62 Tuesday night at Spaulding Gymnasium.
The Lady Bears (6-5, CIAA 3-1) snapped a two game losing skid in the midst of handing ECSU their sixth consecutive loss.
ECSU managed to outscore the home team 39-32 in the second half but unfortunately it was not enough to overcome their 21-point first half deficit (44-23). The Lady Vikings cut the Lady Bears lead to 12 with 7:16 remaining yet Shaw responded with quick back to back three-pointers to put the game out of reach down the stretch.
The Lady Bears placed four in double figures with Celanese Bozeman scoring a team high 18 points. Joyce Freeman led ECSU also scoring 18 points. Freshman guard Kearah Jefferys added 14 points in the loss.
ECSU (1-8, CIAA 0-4) will return to action against Chowan University on Thursday, January 8th in a non-conference matchup. Game time is scheduled for 6:00pm at the RL Vaughan Center. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
