ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Shaw University Lady Bears improved to 6-9 overall and 3-1 in the CIAA with a 71-62 win over Elizabeth City State University Tuesday evening at the R.L. Vaughan Center.
In a tightly contested first half, the Lady Bears closed the first stanza on a 10-3 run to take a 39-30 lead into the half. That nine point lead proved to be the difference in the game as both team scored 32 points each after the intermission. Shaw placed three in double figures with Tammy Lanier leading the way with a team high 16 points. Jamie Goshen and Tanisha McGaughey added 16 and 14 points, respectively.
Celeste Trahan was the only Lady Viking to score in double figures, registering her 73rd career double-double of 18 points and 21 rebounds.
