LAWRENCEVILLE, VA- The Saint Paul's College Lady Tigers handed Elizabeth City State University a 63-59 loss Thursday evening at Taylor-Whitehead Gymnasium.
The win gives Saint Paul's their first victory over Elizabeth City State since 2003 when they handed the Lady Vikings a 72-54 loss in Lawrenceville.
Celeste Trahan tallied her 77th career double-double with 30 points and 16 rebounds while Katrina Wright paced Saint Paul's (7-8 overall) with a team high 19 points.
ECSU overcame a 36-28 halftime deficit, outscoring the Lady Tigers 31-27 in the second half. A three-pointer by Sha-Tesia Sharpe with 2:16 remaining gave the Lady Vikings a 59-57 lead before back to back baskets by Tatiana Ellis and Saleathia Parker gave Saint Paul's a two-point advantage (61-59) with 17 points remaining. After a missed shot by the Lady Vikings, Ellis iced the game with two free throws for the four-point win.
