ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings improved to 19-8 overall with a 78-62 win over Virginia Union University Saturday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.
Although it was senior night for seven Lady Vikings, ECSU rode the shoulders of All-American center Celeste Trahan en route to the 78-62 victory. Trahan posted game highs of 27 points and 19 rebounds as a reserve for ECSU as the senior made up the staring line-up. With Trahan coming off the bench, the Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Panthers (8-17, CIAA 5-15) reserves 51-26. ECSU also netted 33 points of 34 Virginia Union turnovers and controlled the post 38-20. With the win, the Lady Vikings clinched the 2007 CIAA Eastern Division Championship and a first round bye as the #2 seed overall for the 2007 CIAA Tournament in Charlotte, NC.
