ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Elizabeth City State University junior center Celeste Trahan has added another accolade to her emergent basketball résumé as she now has 1,000 rebounds in her career.

Trahan, who after the 2005-06 season became the first female All-American in school history, unofficially now stands as the only Lady Viking to reach the 1,000 rebound plateau. She accomplished that feat on February 1st in the Lady Vikings' 104-85 win over Fayetteville State University. In her first year in the league she set the CIAA tournament record for rebounds in a game with 28 in the Finals against Shaw University. Additionally, Trahan ranks fourth all-time in the NCAA in top season performances by a freshman in both rebounds (398) and rebounding average (13.7). She accomplished an astounding feat as the top rebounder in the nation for two straight years (2004-05, 2005-06) and this season ranks fourth overall in NCAA Division II.

Trahan now has 1,035 career rebounds which ranks 7th all-time in the CIAA. The Stockton, CA native has amassed 56 double-doubles in 76 games and for her career posts averages of 18.3 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. This season she leads the CIAA in points, rebounds and blocks per game.
