TRAHAN NAMED TO ALL-SOUTH ATLANTIC FIRST TEAM

AIKEN, SC- Celeste Trahan has been named to 2005-06 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Basketball All-South Atlantic First Team.

The team is voted on annually by the region's Sports Information Directors.

This past year, the Stockton, CA native continued to make her mark as one f the premier women's basketball players in the country averaging 19.5 points and 14.6 rebounds per game. For the second consecutive year she led the nation the rebounding and has amassed 40 double-doubles in 54 career games. As a follow up to her freshman campaign, in which she was named All-South Atlantic Region Second Team, she was again named to both the All-CIAA team and All-CIAA Tournament Team. A five time CIAA Player of the Week, in the conference Trahan finished the year ranked second in scoring, first in rebounding and blocked shots (2.0), 7th in field goal percentage (.532) and 11th in steals (2.2). Besides rebounding, in the nation she ranks 18th in scoring, 26th in blocks and 46th in field goal percentage.

Now that she has been voted to the All-South Atlantic Region First Team Trahan, along with the four others First Team members, will be listed on the national ballot for All-American consideration. The other fist team honorees include Tanetra Barrett of Wingate University, Nastassia Boucicault of Shaw University, Cassie King of N.C. Central and Yakeeshia Ross of South Carolina-Upstate. The Second Team includes Kristi Ferris of Mars Hill, Shelcey Harp and Jasmine Patterson both of Clayton State, Audosha Kelley of Armstrong Atlantic and Allyson Swailes of Bowie State.
