Final Stats
MURFREESBORO, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings swept the season series from Chowan College by defeating the Lady Braves 107-68 Thursday night at the Helms Center.
The 107 point output eclipses the record that was set back on January 21st vs. Fayetteville State (101 points) for the highest point total in Lady Viking basketball history.
For ECSU it was business as usual as the 39 point win over Chowan extended their win streak to nine games. Tiffany Smith tied her career high with 26 points and 9 rebounds while Tanika Hudgins added a season best 25 points while adding 9 boards.
The game was put out of reach in the first half as ECSU led 52-31 at the intermission. For the game the Lady Vikings scored 44 points alone off of 32 turnovers by the Lady Braves. Led by Ranisha Childress's 15 points off the bench, the Lady Viking reserves out scored their opponents non-starters 35-10. Deanna Price rounds out the Lady Vikings in double figures contributing 10 points and 8 assists.
For Chowan (12-8 overall) Keyon Sellars and Tawana Tucker finished with double-doubles of 16 points, 10 rebounds and 12 points, 10 rebounds, respectively.
The Lady Vikings (12-6 overall, 7-1 CIAA) will put their nine-game win streak to the test as they travel to Raleigh, NC to take on the three-time defending champion Shaw University Lady Bears on Saturday, February 4th at 5:30pm in Spaulding Gymnasium.
