LADY VIKINGS' PRICE NAMED CIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

HAMPTON, VA- Elizabeth City State University guard Deanna Price has been named 2006 Women's CIAA Defensive Player of the Year.

Price, a native of Washington, DC, leads the CIAA in steals at 3.75 per game. In the same category for NCAA Division II, she ranks 4th overall in the nation while falling at 10th in assists. Price is an all around player who is also leading the CIAA in assists, is 15th in scoring (12.8ppg), 14th in rebounding (6.2rpg), 15th in field goal percentage (.408), is 8th in assist/turnover ratio (1.13) and is tied at 12th for blocks (0.63bpg). This season she collected her second and third career triple doubles, set a new career high for points versus Livingstone College with 31 and matched her career best for steals with 8 versus Fayetteville State.
