Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings defeated the University of the District of Columbia Lady Firebirds 77-66.

The Lady Firebirds would lead early on in the contest, flying out to a 10-2 advantage at the 16:38 mark of the first half. The Lady Vikings would reclaim the lead on a Ranisha Childress 3-pointer with 7:42 to go before the break. That would be the only lead change of the game as the Lady Vikings would not trail from that point on. All-American candidate Celeste Trahan got off to a fast start amassing 14 points and 7 rebounds by the intermission.

The story would be much of the same in the second half although the Lady Firebirds would not go away quietly. After leading by as many as 12, the Lady Vikings saw their lead chiseled to 3 (61-58) with 3:30 to go in the game. To offset that the Lady Vikings went 14-15 from the free throw line down the home stretch to close the game out. Celeste Trahan finished with a team high 25 points along with 20 rebounds and 3 blocks. Tanika Hudgins added a double-double of 12 points, 12 rebounds while Tiffany Smith and Deanna Price added 19 and 13 respectively.

For UDC, Jamie Brown finished with a game high 26 points as the Lady Firebirds fall to 8-19 on the year.
