ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings defeated the Saint Paul's College Lady Tigers 85-67 Saturday night at the RL Vaughan Center.

Four starters finished in double figures for ECSU, three of which tallied double-doubles. In her second game back, All-American candidate Celeste Trahan finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks and a steal in 27 minutes of play. Deanna Price finished one assist shy of her third triple-double this season with10 points 14 rebounds and 9 assists. Tanika Hudgins added 15 points and 13 rebounds while Venkia Jones chipped in with 13 points.

For the win, the Lady Vikings had to overcome a 39-34 halftime deficit to rally past the upset minded Lady Tigers, outscoring them 51-28 in the second half. Also the turnover bug bit the visiting Lady Tigers as the committed 19 of their 27 down the stretch which led to 22 fast break points for the Lady Vikings. The home team proved to be too much for Saint Paul?s in the post where ECSU outscored the visitors 62-38. Ranisha Childress added 12 points off the bench for ECSU.

Nikki Bowen paced the Lady Tigers with a game high 29 points while pulling down 11 boards. The Lady Tigers fall to 5-18 and 1-11 in the CIAA.

The Lady Vikings (15-7, CIAA 9-2) will return to action on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 as they play host to North Carolina Central University. Game time is slated for 5:30pm in the Vaughan Center. For more information on ECSU Athletics, log onto www.ecsuvikings.com.
