LADY VIKINGS DOWN LADY GOLDEN BULLS 74-64

Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC-The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings defeated Johnson C. Smith University 74-64 at the R.L. Vaughan Center.

The loss is the first for the Lady Golden Bulls in the CIAA this season.

In her first game back, it was business as usual for Celeste Trahan who registered 23 points, 17 rebounds, 4 blocks and 4 steals. She sat out the last four games due to a concussion suffered back on January 28th at Virginia Union University.

The Lady Vikings used a 17-9 run to build a 17-point advantage to put the game out of reach in the second half. ECSU outscored Johnson C. Smith 42-28 and held a commanding rebounding edge of 63-48. Comparatively, neither team shot well from the field as ECSU finished a 34% to 31 % for the Lady Golden Bulls. Deanna Price amassed her third career triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Three other Lady Vikings finished in double figures as Tanika Hudgins scored 12, Tiffany Smith banked 11 while Ranisha Childress added 10 points off the bench. Smith also hauled in 10 rebounds for her 8th double-double of the season.

Deanna Price notched her third career triple double in the Lady Vikings' win over Johnson C. Smith Thursday night.


For Johnson C. Smith (15-7, CIAA 10-1) Shemika Jones finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds while Ashley Chase and Tiana Pope finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Lady Vikings (14-7, CIAA 9-2) will return to action on Saturday, February 11th as they play host to Saint Paul?s College. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm at the R.L. Vaughan Center. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com
