ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Elizabeth City State University Head Women's Basketball Coach Tara Owens has been named CIAA Coach of the Week.

Owens received the recognition after leading the Lady Vikings to an undefeated record last week with victories over Winston-Salem State and Claflin University. In their conference opener last Tuesday, ECSU downed the Lady Rams 71-63 and they concluded the week avenging a December 11th loss to Claflin, defeating the Pantherettes 81-57. The Lady Vikings are currently 3-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Lady Vikings will return to action tomorrow night against Shaw University in the R.L. Vaughan Center .It will be the first meeting between the two teams since the CIAA Basketball Championship on March 5, 2005 in Raleigh, NC.
