ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings defeated the Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs 87-76 Tuesday night at the R.L. Vaughan Center.
With the win, ECSU extends its win streak to eight games and improves to 11-6 overall and 7-1 in the CIAA. ECSU got balanced scoring with five players in double figures led by Ranisha Childress's team high 26 points.
With 14:35 remaining in the first half, the Lady Vikings took the lead for good on a lay-up by Tanika Hudgins. From that point, ECSU would not look back, holding a 45-38 lead at the intermission. In the second session the Lady Vikings would continue to roll leading by as many a 22. One thing that they could not contain was the Lady Bulldogs' Allyson Swailes who had a monster of a night finishing with 39 points and 19 rebounds. For ECSU Deanna Price collected her second career triple-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Venkia Jones and Tiffany Smith each added 12 points while Hudgins finished with her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
