RICHMOND, VA- The Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings notched their seventh consecutive win in a 87-63 victory over Virginia Union University Saturday night.
Ranisha Childress came off the bench to lead ECSU with 19 points. The Lady Vikings would never trail in the game and in the first half led by as many as 20 points on two occasions The Lady Vikings led by a convincing 17 points (47-30) at the break. Although the Lady Panthers would open the second half of play on back to back jumpers to cut the lead to 13, it would be as close as they would get as ECSU would continue its dominance for the duration of the game. The spread would balloon to a much as 30 points led by Childress' eleven-point second half. Tiffany Smith scored her fifth straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Deanna Price contributed 15 points and dished out 9 assists.
The Lady Panthers were paced by LaToya Green who finished with a team high 15 points. Virginia Union falls to 8-9 on the season, 4-4 in CIAA play.
