RALEIGH, NC- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings defeated the Saint Augustine's College Lady Falcons 88-73 Tuesday night in Raleigh, NC.

The game was one that was laden with fouls as the two teams were whistled for a combined 50 personals. ECSU All-American candidate Celeste Trahan took advantage of her free throw opportunities connecting on 12 of 13 from the line. She finished the game with 26 points, 16 rebounds, 4 steals and a blocked shot.

After the first half ended with the score favoring the Lady Falcons 36-34, the Lady Vikings would go on to outscore their opponent 88-73 in the second half of play. The Lady Falcons shot themselves out of the game connecting on only 2-of-22 attempts from long range. For the game, SAC shot a dismal 30% from the field (22-72) while turning the ball over 26 times. The Lady Vikings did not fair much better in the turnover department amassing 29 of their own. Besides the strength of Trahan's 19 second half points, the Lady Vikings would control the tempo by out rebounding the home team 43 to 34. The Lady Vikings also got solid performances from Deanna Price and Tiffany Smith who finished with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

The Lady Falcons were led by LaConya Polk's 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Valicia Brown added 18 points. SAC falls to 10-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Lady Vikings (5-6, CIAA 3-1) will return to action on Thursday, January 19 as they will play host to Chowan College in non-conference action. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm at the RL Vaughan Center. For more information on ECSU Athletics, log onto www.ecsuvikings.com.
