Final Stats

WINGATE, NC- The Wingate University Bulldogs upended the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings 93-67 in day one action of the 2005 OrthoCarolina Invitational hosted by Wingate University.

The Lady Vikings were plagued by poor shooting as they would finish a dismal 29% (24-81) for the game. Due to their lack of offense, ECSU would find themselves down by twenty-one (47-26) at the intermission. The gap would prove to be too much for the Lady Vikings to overcome despite the fact that they made up some of the distance by scoring 41 points in the second half. In spite a valiant defensive effort by ECSU, the Lady Bulldogs were on target going 31-61 (50%) from the floor. Wingate placed four players in double figures led by Veronica Taylor's 18 points. For ECSU, Celeste Trahan and Deanna Price both netted 14 point each while Tiffany Smith added 11 points. Trahan collected her 32 career double-double with 13 rebounds in 25 minutes of play.
