ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Elizabeth City State University student-athletes Darius Satterfield  and Summer Mcgee were selected to serve on the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Executive Board during the 2026 CIAA SAAC Summer Summit held in Charlotte in July.

Satterfield's continued term as CIAA SAAC President runs through the end of his term as the CIAA representative to the NCAA Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. McGee was elected to serve as the CIAA SAAC Secretary/Historian for the 2026-27 academic year.

The selections give Elizabeth City State two representatives on the conference's SAAC Executive Board and further strengthen the Vikings' presence in student-athlete leadership and governance at the conference and national levels.

2026-27 CIAA SAAC Executive Board:

Darius Satterfield President (through 1/27) ECSU
Leila Jackson   Northern Vice-President VSU
Justin Wheeler Southern Vice-President SU
Janya Barnes Social Media Coordinator JCSU
Summer McGee Secretary/Historian ECSU

As president, Satterfield will continue helping lead the CIAA SAAC and represent the interests and perspectives of student-athletes throughout the conference. In addition to his conference leadership responsibilities, his role as the CIAA representative to the NCAA Division II SAAC provides an opportunity to represent CIAA student-athletes in national conversations surrounding the Division II student-athlete experience.

The NCAA Division II SAAC serves as the student-athlete voice within the NCAA governance structure, providing feedback on legislation and issues that directly impact Division II student-athletes while promoting opportunities for leadership, service and engagement.

McGee will serve as Secretary/Historian, helping support the organization and documentation of CIAA SAAC activities throughout the academic year. Her responsibilities will include assisting with communication, maintaining records of SAAC initiatives and helping preserve the history and progress of the conference's student-athlete leadership efforts.

The CIAA SAAC is composed of student-athlete representatives from the conference's member institutions and works to enhance the student-athlete experience through leadership development, community engagement, conference initiatives and advocacy.

Throughout the 2026-27 academic year, Satterfield, McGee and the rest of the CIAA SAAC Executive Board will help guide conference-wide initiatives while serving as a collective voice for student-athletes across the CIAA. Their selections continue Elizabeth City State's commitment to developing student-athletes who lead not only in competition, but also through service, governance and involvement within the broader collegiate athletics community.
