NORFOLK, VA. -- Elizabeth City State fell 86–61 to Norfolk State on Monday night at Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall. The Vikings kept pace early but were unable to slow the Spartans' balanced attack over the final 20 minutes.
ECSU trailed 43–35 at halftime after shooting an efficient 50 percent from the field in the opening half. Norfolk State maintained its momentum after the break, matching its first-half output with another 43 points while holding the Vikings to 23.3 percent shooting in the second half.
CJ McCord led ECSU off the bench with a team-high 12 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Trevor Smith added 10 points, while Jaquantae Harris finished with nine points, three assists, and two steals. The Vikings received 30 points from their bench and connected on eight three-pointers as a team.
Norfolk State was led by Anthony McComb III's game-high 25 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 8-of-9 at the free throw line. Devon Ellis added 15 points, and the Spartans finished with 48 points in the paint and 29 fast-break points to pull away.
ECSU moves to 2–12 overall and 1–7 in CIAA play, while Norfolk State improves to 9–12 overall on the season.
