ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- Elizabeth City State fell 57–48 to Bluefield State in CIAA action Friday afternoon at the R.L. Vaughan Center. The Vikings trimmed a double-digit halftime deficit with a strong second-half push but were unable to complete the comeback.
ECSU trailed 26–18 at the break after a difficult shooting first half, then responded by outscoring the Big Blues 30–31 over the final 20 minutes. Despite improved efficiency after halftime, the Vikings were held to 31.3 percent shooting overall and just 2-of-19 from three-point range.
Donovan Flamer and Jaquantae Harris led ECSU with 11 points apiece. Trevor Smith added nine points and two steals, while Terence Thorbs and Flamer each pulled down seven rebounds. ECSU showed resilience at the free throw line, converting 16-of-21 attempts, including 9-of-10 in the second half.
Bluefield State was paced by Myles Pierre's game-high 17 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Sila Tako and Warren Mouganda each added nine points as the Big Blues maintained control throughout, leading wire-to-wire.
ECSU moves to 2–11 overall and 1–7 in CIAA play, while Bluefield State improves to 6–11 overall and 5–3 in the conference.
