SALISBURY, N.C. -- Elizabeth City State came up short in an 85–71 CIAA road loss to Livingstone on Monday evening at William Trent Gymnasium. The Vikings were locked in a competitive battle through three quarters before the Blue Bears pulled away with a decisive fourth-quarter surge.
ECSU trailed 22–18 after the opening period but stayed within striking distance throughout the first half and into the third quarter, with the game featuring five ties and seven lead changes. Livingstone outscored the Vikings 29–17 in the final frame to seal the win.
Karina Scott and Laniya Scales led ECSU with 14 points apiece. Scales also posted a double-double with 10 rebounds and five blocks, while Kailyn Young added 13 points and Jada Clark chipped in 11 points and a team-high seven assists. The Vikings shot an efficient 44.2 percent from the field and knocked down nine three-pointers on the night.
Livingstone was led by Nielle Reaves' game-high 23 points, while Ny'Asia Green added 17 and Breasia Coit recorded a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds. The Blue Bears capitalized on second-chance opportunities and turnovers, scoring 27 second-chance points and 38 points off turnovers to pull away late.
ECSU moves to 3–12 overall and 0–6 in CIAA play, while Livingstone improves to 3–13 overall and 2–4 in conference action.
