ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State Vikings' Football program and Head Coach Adrian Jones releases the 2025 Football Schedule following the conclusion of the Spring game.
The Vikings will look to improve their 3-7 overall record and 1-6 CIAA record from 2024 in Adrian Jones' first season at the helm. Elizabeth City State will feature 10 contests with four of those in the friendly confines of Roebuck Stadium and the annual Down East Classic.
ECSU starts the season off on the road the first two weeks as the Vikings will look to get the Jones Era off to a fast start taking on Chowan in Week 0 on August 30. Chowan posted a 3-7 overall in 2024 including a 12-9 loss to the Vikings at home. The Blue and White hold a 10-5 overall record in the series, splitting the last four meetings.
The Vikings will travel to Hampton to take on the Pirates on September 6. Hampton went 5-7 last season as a member of the CAA.
The Blue and White will host the first of four straight contests with Johnson C. Smith coming to Roebuck Stadium on September 13 for a CIAA cross-divisional match up. The Golden Bulls picked up the win in 2023, 21-20, in the last meeting against the Vikings. JCSU is coming off an eight-win season and 5-2 mark in the CIAA.
Elizabeth City State will be the host of the 2025 Down East Viking Classic in a rematch of the 2024 Down East Classic as the Vikings take on Fayetteville State on September 20 in Rocky Mount, N.C. at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex.
Following a bye week, the Vikings welcome Livingstone to campus in the final CIAA cross-divisional match up on October 4. The Blue Bears snuck past the Vikings last season, 23-17, in Salisbury. Livingstone is coming off their first winning season since 2015 after posting a 6-4 overall record.
To wrap up the homestand, ECSU hosts 2024 NCAA Division II participant Virginia Union on October 11 to open up CIAA Northern Division action. The Panthers went 10-4 overall while taking home the CIAA Championship before bowing out to Valdosta State in the NCAA DII Quarterfinals.
The Vikings will hit the road for their next three contests starting at Virginia State on October 18 before making the trip north to Lincoln (October 25) and Bowie State on November 1.
Elizabeth City State welcomes Bluefield State to town on November 8 to wrap up the regular season and celebrate ECSU Homecoming and Senior Day. The Vikings pulled off the victory last season against Big Blue, 27-21.
The Blue and White will look to culminate their season at the 2025 CIAA Football Championship in Salem, Va. on November 15.
