Riley Higgins nailed a 31-yard field goal to put ECSU up with 10:27. The Viking defense had an impressive goal-line stand and forced a turnover on downs with .50 left. ECSU took over deep in their own territory, but could not run the clock out. Vikings punter
Darius Satterfield took a safety to make it 12-9. The Chowan offense took over after the free kick and completed passes downfield to set up a 38-yard field goal by kicker Matthew Conard. Conard hooked the kick wide-left and the Vikings escaped with a 12-9 victory.
About Erskine
The Flying Fleet of Erskine College are coming off a 31-14 home loss to Division I program Presbyterian College last weekend. Erskine, who plays in the Gulf South Conference (GSC), went 0-11 in the 2023 season. They are led by 3rd year head coach Shap Boyd.

ECSU and Fayetteville State University (FSU) will be competing in the 27th annual Down East Viking Football Classic September 21 at 1 p.m in Rocky Mount, NC.
