RICHMOND, VA-- The Elizabeth City State women's tennis team secured a clean sweep over the Virginia Union Panthers on Tuesday afternoon at Battery Park, in Richmond, Virginia.
This win marks the first victory for the Lady vikings in two seasons. This win also marks the first victory for head coach
Cyril Dash.
The number one doubles pairing in
Maddisan Bowleg and
Marley Renner would take their game 4-1 after having to retire due to injury of a Virginia Union player.Â
The Viking would go on to win the second and third doubles parings of
Reichel Freytes and
Juelle St. Clair would win 6-0, while
Ashna Mahtani and
Kennedy Rollins would secure the third doubles game 6-3.
In singles play the Vikings would secure a win from the number one spot in
Marley Renner finishing with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
"This victory means a lot especially for the girls who have worked so hard, we still have to approach it one point at a time," Dash said.
The tennis team will return to action this weekend in Richmond, Virginia at Byrd park for the CIAA tennis round-up.
