BALTIMORE, MD— The CIAA Northern Division champions the Elizabeth City women's basketball team began their quest to defend their CIAA championship against the St. Augustine's Lady Falcons Wednesday afternoon at the CFG Bank Arena.
The Vikings would dominate in the rebounding category having a total of 47 rebounds with 19 of them being on the offensive end. In the first half, the Vikings would have a field goal percentage of 55.73% while the Lady Falcons would end the half up by 6 points.
In the second half, the Lady Vikings
Alanis Hill would catch fire and go on a tear for 3 consecutive field goals a steal, and two rebounds. The Lady Vikings would have the assignment of controlling the pace in the dwindling minutes.
Armfield would finish the game with 16 points and 6 rebounds along with 2 assists. The Lady Vikings would advance to the Final Four of the tournament defeating the Lady Falcons 64-60. Dy' Jhanik Armfield would receive the Food Lion MVP.
The Lady Vikings will return to action on Friday at the CFG Bank arena and will face the winner of the Shaw versus Claflin matchup. Friday's tip-off is scheduled for noon.
