Lady Vikings Drop a Heartbreaker in OT

CHARLOTTE, NC- The Elizabeth City State women's basketball team (8-7, 3-5 CIAA) lost a close game in overtime against Johnson C. Smith University (6-7, 3-3 CIAA) with a final score of 80-75. The game was played on Thursday afternoon at Brayboy Gym in Charlotte.

It was a highly emotional game with both teams receiving technical fouls. The Vikings played great defense, causing the Golden Bulls to commit 26 turnovers.

Alanis Hill was the top scorer of the game with 29 points. She made 9 out of 14 shots, mostly by driving to the basket. Hill is currently ranked second among CIAA scorers. She also contributed with six rebounds, three steals, and a block for the Vikings.

Dy'Jhanik Armfield scored 13 points, grabbed five rebounds, and had a steal. She drew a lot of contact from the Golden Bulls, which would send her to the line six times where she was 10-12 from the stripe.

Rashauna Grant had a good game as well with eight points and six rebounds for the Lady Vikings.

The Lady Vikings will play their next game on Sunday, January 14, against Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Maryland. The game will start at 5:30 pm.
