Winston-Salem, NC- The Vikings of Elizabeth City State University traveled to Bowman Gray Stadium to take on the Rams of Winston-Salem State.

The Vikings would win the coin toss and defer to the second half. The Vikings and Rams would both have opening three-and-outs. The teams would settle down after having a penalty-filled first half. The teams would eventually settle down. Winston-Salem State would score first with a field goal from Kicker Esparza.

Teonne Porter would lead the defense with nine total tackles, and Tracey White would add a total of seven tackles. Eric Chandler would force a fumble in the second quarter to give momentum to the Vikings but it would not be enough.

The Vikings would come out of halftime for their initial drive, but it would stall. The Vikings would make it to the endzone at the 13:25 mark on a 34-yard pass completion to Quinzel Lockhart to make the score 7-10. The third quarter saw a lot of Quinzel Lockhart who would racked up 121 receiving yards with nine catches on the night.


In the final quarter, the Vikings would make a quarterback change after Chase Williams would get knocked out of the game. Donoven Davenport would see the final moments of action making several scrambles and a completion. Davenport would throw a last-ditch effort interception. The Vikings would fall 24-7.

The Vikings will return to action next week as we host Shaw University for our Military Appreciation Game at Roebuck Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
